Shareera Rachana being one of the fundamental departments of first year curriculum, emphasizes on understanding of human body through theoretical explanation and practical observation through cadaveric dissection. Ayurvedic principles of shareera like manas, atma, marma, kala etc are also taught in depth. To be a good ayurvedic physician one must understand the founts of Shareera Rachana (anatomy) and Shareera Kriya (physiology). Functional necessity is the cause of structural innovation. The department trains the students in all branches of Human Anatomy using traditional and innovative methods. The facilities meet all the requirements of undergraduate.

Key Features

  • The department of Anatomy has a wonderful Anatomy museum comprising of around 100 beautifully dissected specimens of various regions of the Human body. A museum catalogue is maintained which guides the students to study the specimens. The museum has an osteology and embryology section.
  • There are various illustrative charts which depict the Ayurvedic principles of shareera as well as modern aspects of human anatomy.
  • The museum also has a wide collection of medical models for educational and demonstration purpose.
  • The Dissection hall is well ventilated and has bright light. It has the accommodation capacity of 100 students. Small groups of students can dissect one formalin preserved cadaver. This gives them hands on experience of dissection and helps to learn Human Anatomy by means of dissection and verify the facts by themselves. Dissection is performed under the guidance of experienced teachers.
  • The department has adequate number of bone sets. The bones are issued to the individual students as needed for study purpose.
  • The Department Library occupies a unique place in academic and research activities of the Department. It is perhaps the most important central facility provided by the Institute. The Library maintains an excellent collection of books including Ayurvedic as well as Modern human anatomy.
