Rasashastra and Bhaishajya kalpana

Department of Rasashastra and BhaishajyaKalpana is a branch of Ayurveda which deals with the preparation of medicines by using Kashtaoushadhi (Herbal), Rasoushadhi (Mineral) and Kashta-rasoushadhi (Herbo-mineral).It includes toxic drug also, where these toxic drug should undergo specific samskara like Shodhana, marana etc.before preparing the medicine. All the procedures related to converting the raw drug into medicinally consumable form are performed and trained.

Different types of formulations like Vati, Vatika, Churna, Bhasma, Kupipakwa rasa, parpati, pottali, Varti, Asavarishta, arka etc. are prepared in the practicals for Students. A Well maintained Museum containing models, specimens, charts, mineral drugs, Pharmacy model, herbal drugs etc. are helpful for learning.

The Department has well equipped instruments to carry out all types of procedures.

Vision

To attain perfection in pharmaceutical processing and manufacturing of formulations with Standard Operative Procedures without altering the basic concepts to achieve utmost therapeutic benefits

Objectives

• To modify and manufacture the classical formulations mentioned in the shastra, using advanced technology and to validate them for its efficacy and safety without altering its potency.
• To acquire sound theoretical and practical knowledge of various concepts mentioned in the shastra.
• To promote scientific research methods in Rasashastra and Bhaishajya kalpana.

DEPARTMENTAL FEATURES

• Well equipped teaching pharmacy is a part of the academic block.
• It is spaciously designed over an area of 2071sq.ft. with separate store room.
• The pharmacy is well equipped with various instruments, equipments and models as specified in the MSR 2016.
