The Department of Samhita, Siddhanta, and Sanskrit, Yenepoya Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Naringana, successfully organized a National Level Colloquium Sampratipatti – An Insight into Medical Sanskrit on 1st February 2025. Chief Guest Dr. B.H. Sripathi Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), emphasized the need for students to learn Sanskrit in depth, enabling them to understand classical Ayurvedic texts with greater accuracy and authenticity. Dr. S. Venugopalan, Professor, Dept. of Oriental Studies & Research, Sastra University, Thanjavur, highlighted that English translations capture only about 25% of the true essence of Ayurvedic classics, stressing the importance of studying the original Sanskrit texts for deeper knowledge. Prof. Ramadas P.V., Professor, Amrita School of Ayurveda, Kollam, elaborated on the role of Sanskrit grammar and etymology in accurately interpreting Ayurvedic principles, underscoring how a refined understanding of the language enhances clinical application. The event also featured a Paper Presentation Competition for faculty and postgraduate scholars and a Poster Presentation Competition for students, fostering academic exploration in Medical Sanskrit. The winners were awarded prizes in recognition of their outstanding contributions, encouraging further research and engagement with Sanskrit in Ayurveda.
